Water Fairy in paperback

Exciting news! Water Fairy will be released in paperback soon! Hopefully in time for Christmas.

Water Fairy is the first in a line of books called The Fairy Grasses series. The books will center around the world of the fairy grasses. In this first installment, we see that world crumbled to almost oblivion and Morgan is charged with saving it. The other books will be called Earth Fairy, Fire Fairy, and Air Fairy. In the timeline, these stories will be set either before or after Morgan's story meaning at least one of them is a prequel to Water Fairy. You'll have to wait and see how it all pans out.

If you've read Water Fairy, comment below with your prediction of who you think might make good heroes/heroines of the other three books.

Promoting Water Fairy

I want to say that I'm not exactly the most pushy person. There are some real go-getters out there who can get things done in no time flat just by using their voice. I'm better at getting my point across in writing or just doing whatever needs doing myself. It feels less dangerous to me for some reason. It took me 10 years to write this book. Ten years of my life. I'm very proud of it. So go read it!!

Morgan is a fairy with the power of healing. Water is her tool. Read this, the first novel of the Fairy Grasses series, where Morgan, after enduring a rocky childhood, begins to learn her true potential as the most important fairy in her realm. The only trouble is... Morgan doesn't believe in fairies.

So many projects! (Oh, and life too!)

Hello. Life is carrying me away. I'm working on three writing projects, working full time, not to mention I'm a wife and mother. My hobbies kind of float between crafting and gaming. Always, though, reading and writing are there... in my mind... the preferred activities (after my family, of course). I have been so busy lately, though, that I haven't been able to read or write near as much as I would like. I managed to churn out almost 800 words today and that's pretty good considering I worked all day, stayed late for a club meeting (I sponsor 3 clubs ... I'm a high school librarian), and it's my oldest's 16th birthday.

Babes in the Woods
by Randolph Caldecott
So, the real reason I called you all here today... I'm excited about all my projects, but there is one in particular that I'm obsessing over. The working title is Children of the Forest and it's a fantasy retelling of Babes in the Woods. This retelling will be a bit different. You'll get more of an inside look into the minds of the thieves charged with taking the children into the woods. Their names are Silas and Delvin and they are two interesting fellows who take their job overly seriously. They serve as a bit of comic relief as the big bad in this story is particularly harsh on the two children. Speaking of which, their names are Christopher and Evangeline. Christopher is 16 and Evangeline is 5. There is a reason for the age gap. You'll see.

Anyway, that's all I'm leaving you for now. It's time to switch back into Mom-mode. I have two sweet little boys to put to bed.

Water Fairy Release!

What an exciting week this has been! My ebook, Water Fairy, has just released exclusively on Amazon (check the Kindle store) and I could not be more excited! The reception has been pretty amazing and I'm humbled.

If you've not heard, Water Fairy is book 1 in The Fairy Grasses series. It stars Morgan Shanley, a girl whose true potential is not revealed until she lets go of her anger and experiences real love from a most unexpected source. This book is a fairy fantasy. If you enjoy fairy lore, superstitions, teen angst, and little romance, then give it a shot. If it's after Halloween when you read this, though, so don't eat the berries!
